NICE to spend a couple of hours on Norfork Monday afternoon feeling some water around the legs again and bedrock and gravel underfoot. Norfork has been getting a few hours of wadable water a day during the afternoons, and the fishing is fun as always.
Barring further heavy rainfall we can expect these windows to grow as the weather moderates. Pack your midge, Sowbug and soft hackle boxes.
One caution though at present the water sensors are down, and it appeared on Monday at least that the telephone number wasn’t being updated. If you are fishing from the lower access this means paying close attention to the water levels as you will not have the usual warning of changes in generation. Stay safe!
Best flies for my short stint on the water were gray sowbugs (either Davy’s or the Woven V-Rib) and tungsten midges in black and copper, olive and our Camel Midge, 18s were probably a little better but they didn’t pass up the 16s either. .
